UNICEF: Child Cyber-Protection

As the vast majority of children spend large amounts of time on the internet -- as much as 5 hours a day -- this vital part of their lives must be safer for these vulnerable and impressionable children. Their information becoming compromised due to scams such as phishing or schemes connected to popular video games is a real hazard for young children. Also, it is incredibly difficult to protect children online from coming in contact with explicit content that is harmful to be viewed by such a young user. Finally, unmonitored use of the internet can bring children into contact with nefarious characters, whether that be cyberbullies or predators, and can lead to immense personal damage. These hazards of the internet must be confronted by delegates in order to ensure future generations can enjoy the benefits of the internet without the avoidable dangers.
