Cabinet of M.K. Stalin

Notorious Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu and the leader of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) Party, Muthuvel Karunanidhi Stalin’s government remains committed to socialist, secular, and federalist principles. However, this puts the DMK directly at odds with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a centralized Indian state, causing much political tensions to rise. Additionally, the cabinet of MK Stalin has faced growing challenges with the rise of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the expansion of their nationalist beliefs, along with the Indian National Congress (INC), which has shifted further right in recent years.

Tamil Nadu has long opposed the Hindu nationalism and dominance of the North, posing an even greater threat to the Stalin government alongside ecological and social issues. Environmental management, alcohol addiction and abuse, and the long-standing Kaveri river dispute are just some of some of the issues that have tainted Stalin's public image. How these issues are solved will determine if the DMK can preserve public confidence and resist the BJP's influence in the South.

In this committee, delegates will debate how the DMK should govern and solve these issues. This will include deciding if the party should strengthen its socialist identity or shift and adapt to the rapidly changing political landscape. How far should Tamil Nadu push back against the central government authority? Will effective governing lead to the revival of the Indian left, or will corruption and errors lead to its decline? The decisions made in this committee will shape the future of Dravidian Politics and Tamil Nadu’s influence in India.
